Women in the workplace has always been a topic of discussion and now, more than ever, women are taking a stand. Creating their own roles as well as their own mentors, leaders, and not to mention ‘bosses’ women have proven themselves as a undeniable force. Singer/songwriter Rachel B is just that. The soul/pop powerhouse has just released her debut album, “I’m The Boss”, on March 1st.
“Her set was brimming with sass, playful energy and unquestionable talent,” “Rachel creates new worlds that stir the heart and imagination”, “Rachel B is not inching into the spotlight-she is lighting her own stage,” are just a few phrases that have been said to describe singer/songwriter Rachel B. Supporting the movement of women empowerment, Rachel B, sets her tone and raises the bar when it comes to perfecting her craft as an artist. Rachel recently released her debut album, “I’m the Boss” and has been receiving ravishing reviews.
Currently residing in Pennsylvania Rachel B definitely ‘hit a note’ with this album. The independent artist has a soulful voice that is reminiscent to jazz legends such as: Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, and Minnie Riperton. ” I fell in love with the depth of their voices and have been influenced by them for as long as I can remember,” explains Rachel. “I’m inspired by bold woman who are difficult to define, and not just in the music world. Woman like Tina Fey, Misty Copeland, Venus and Serena Williams and Chelsea Handler are some examples of successful female bosses whom I very much respect and admire.”
A flux of emotions occur over the duration of listening to this album. A sense of empowerment yet vulnerability which unapologetically convey the feelings and struggles of being any individual in todays society. The album changes gears in the mist of the album. From powerful up-beat tones to a saddened melodies Rachel B leaves ‘no stone unturned’ when it comes to being versatile with her sound. ” Life is like a roller coaster and I think the music and track order on this album reflects that. I always want to make music that is versatile. I want my music to be about the light and the dark, not one or the other,” explains Rachel. “I’m not really interested in making an album with all heartbreak or love songs, but at the same time, heartbreaks are a huge part of life, so I wanted to include some of my personal experiences with them on this album.”
Staying true to herself while paying homage to the legends, Rachel B, is the epitome of ‘artist to watch’. Her talent is undeniable and she fills a niche that many do not see in music today. Grab a copy of “I’m The Boss” and stay tuned as she embarks on her tour shortly.
